I abruptly came to the understanding that what I thought were hundreds of tiny baby red composting worms (
Eisenia fetida) were actually another entire (but similar) species of worm. These very small white worms are actually Pot worms (enchytraeids). I brought a handful of material from one of my bins to work to take microscopic photos. The literature I have read basically mentions that young
Eisenia fetida are pink-ish and larger then Enchytraeids. Ideally, two side by side photos of both species would have been great and I wanted to snap as many pictures as possible, however, I could only get a few interesting shots. All may not really be helpful, but they are neat. I was able to find two types of mites, springtails, and of course, the worms.
